StepSafe Kids Referral Program Terms

1. Who can take part

Anyone can create a referral code at stepsafekids.com/my-referrals. You do not need to be a backer to create a code, but rewards that include a device or service require you to be a backer of a device tier yourself.

2. What counts as a referral

A referral counts when all of the following are true:

• The person you referred pledges to a StepSafe Kids reward tier that includes a physical device. Pledges to the $1 tier and any digital-only tiers do not count.
• Their pledge is successfully collected when the campaign ends. Pledges that fail, are cancelled, or are refunded do not count.
• They enter your referral code in the post-campaign survey. This is the only way we can connect a backer to a referrer, because Kickstarter does not give creators that information.
• They are not you. Self-referrals do not count.
• Each pledge can be credited to one referral code only.

3. How referrals are counted and verified

The leaderboard at stepsafekids.com/leaderboard is indicative only. It is based on referral link activity and is not the final tally.

The final count is made after the Kickstarter payout, using the survey responses matched against the backer report. Prizes are awarded on that basis.

We verify results before awarding prizes. We compare survey responses against referral link activity, and we may ask for a brief explanation where the two do not match. We reserve the right to disqualify entries where we have reasonable grounds to believe referrals were not genuine.

4. Rewards

Every backer you refer receives First Batch Priority shipping and their family name on the Founding Families screen in the StepSafe app.

• 1 referred backer: First Batch Priority shipping for you.
• 2 referred backers: one device donated in your name to a family who cannot afford one, through Sabella Fae's Ausome Adventures. The donated device ships on the standard production schedule.
• 3 referred backers: one additional SS-01 device for you, device only, with no service plan included. You will need a subscription to activate it. Plus Early App Beta Access for you and everyone you referred, and the opportunity to give input on the app's design. Input means we will ask for your views and take them seriously. It does not mean a vote or a right of approval.
• 5 referred backers: everything above, plus the Lifetime Owner's Bundle if you hold a Lifetime Pro tier, or 12 months of service free if you hold an Early Bird or Standard tier.

Rewards are cumulative. Reaching a higher tier does not remove what you earned at a lower one.

5. Leaderboard prizes

Only referrers with 4 or more verified referrals are eligible to place.

• Third place: one additional Lifetime Pro device.
• Second place: one additional Lifetime Pro device plus the Lifetime Owner's Bundle.
• First place: one additional Lifetime Pro device plus the Ultimate Bundle plus one further device donated in your name.

Ties are settled by the earliest verified referral.

6. Double counting period

From midnight EDT at the start of September 1, 2026 until the campaign closes at 9:00 AM EDT on September 3, 2026, each verified referral counts as two toward both the reward tiers and the leaderboard.

7. Timing

The program runs until the campaign closes on September 3, 2026 at 9:00 AM EDT. Verification takes place after the Kickstarter payout, which we expect in late September. We will contact winners by email. Physical rewards ship alongside the main production run in February 2027.

8. Changes and disputes

We may change these terms if something turns out to be unworkable. If we do, we will post the change on this page and say so in a Kickstarter update. We will not reduce a reward someone has already earned.

9. Privacy

We store the email address you enter to generate a code, your code, and records of clicks on your link. We do not publish email addresses. The leaderboard shows first names or display names only. We do not share this data with anyone.
