ASHWIN CHUNCHU: FOUNDER BIO (100 words)
Last updated: August 4, 2026

Ashwin Chunchu is the 17-year-old founder of StepSafe Kids, a Toronto-based
company building an affordable cellular GPS tracker for children who wander.
Before writing a line of product spec, he spent six months interviewing more
than 100 families in the autism, ADHD, and Down syndrome communities about what
existing trackers get wrong. What he heard was consistent: the devices that
worked cost more per year than most families could sustain. He built StepSafe
as the alternative those families described, including their request to
permanently disable the microphone so schools would allow it. StepSafe Kids
launched on Kickstarter on August 4, 2026.
